A Christmas Flower

The poinsettia, which has become known as the Christmas flower, was discovered in Mexico in 1928 by Dr. Joel Poinsett. He sent cuttings to Robert Buist, a botanist in Philadelphia, who sent specimens to the botanical gardens in Edinburgh, Scotland. When Poinsett visited John C. Fremont in California he likely introduced the flower. The people of Mexico and Central America call the poinsettia "Flor de La Noche Buena" which means "Flower of the Holy Night" because it reaches full bloom at Christmas.

Thank you so much!

Have a great and happy New Year!!!

Pray this week for the following people:

O Lord, You are so good and kind, so ready to forgive; so full of mercy for all who ask Your aid. Listen closely to my prayer, O God. Hear my urgent cry. I will call to You whenever trouble strikes, and You will help me.
